N/C Metering Systems

The density of the urea reactor effluent stream is known to be linear with the N/C ratio under certain temperature conditions. However, the density variations are rather small so the N/C metering system uses a density cell that provides a continuous and accurate reading of the density. In order to reach the correct pressure and temperature range under which this density cell operates for this application, a system is put in place to reduce temperature and pressure within a specified range and keep both parameters as stable as possible. That leaves the molar ratio of the components in the mixture as the only driving force to change the calculated density and hence the NC ratio.
